Veteran’s Day is Thursday, and in an act to honor those veterans, students and faith leaders at Kentucky Wesleyan College dedicated this week’s service to  veterans that have served this country.

KWC’s weekly chapel at 12:12 was dedicated to honoring the veterans of our nation. The chapel featured a student choir singing patriotic songs and students, staff and faculty sharing memories of veterans in their lives.

“We feel like the sacrifice that has been made by our veterans is something to be honored, and most of us have veterans in our families, and they don’t get quite enough thanks for all that they have sacrificed in the past," said Shawn Tomes, director of campus ministries at KWC.

The service saw students and other members of the Owensboro community coming together to honor those that have served our nation. Chapel at 12:12 happens each and every Wednesday and invites all from the Owensboro area to attend.

And Thomes said he hopes all veterans know how much they mean to this country, and he’s proud to be able to put on a mass every year that honors them.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day across the Tri-State; temperatures climbed back into the upper 40s low 50s area-wide earlier this afternoon. Evansville‘s afternoon high temperature of 49° was our warmest in nearly a week. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will be relatively stable as a breezy southerly wind continues to bolster the mercury throughout the region; temperatures around 42° at dinner time will only fall as low as 41° by midnight. An inbound cold front moving in overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning will begin to generate chances of rainfall as early as the predawn hours on Wednesday.
