One Tri-State electric company is warning customers of yet another way thieves are trying to rip you off.

Kenergy officials say within the last two days they've received numerous amounts of members reporting phone scams.

The scammers are posing as Kenergy employees demanding payment and threatening to turn off power on the spot.

Kenergy officials say this will never be the case.

"We will never demand payment over the phone," says Leslie Barr, Kenergy Spokesperson. "We will never threaten disconnect. We are here to help you. So if you are behind on a bill, you're struggling to make a payment, we will work with you so we will never make those demands or shut-offs."

Phone scams similar to these were very common at the start of the pandemic with many senior citizens reporting they received calls.

Officials say if the call seems suspicious, hang up and call Kenergy at 800-844-4832.

While it may be breezy today, the sunshine isn't going to let us down. Most of the cloud cover will exit this morning. Dry and clear skies will be on tap this afternoon. Despite the strong northeasterly flow, highs shouldn't have any problems reaching the mid to upper 60s. We'll reach 66° in the River City.
