Fire Officials throughout the Bluegrass State are reminding the public Forest Fire Hazard Season begins October 1st.

During the forest fire hazard seasons, even though the precautions required have been taken, it is unlawful for any person to set fire to or to set fire to any flammable material capable of spreading fire, located in or within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland.

Fire officials say burning will only be permitted between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. for city and county residents.

Before burning, Kentucky residents are asked to call Central Dispatch alerting them, stay with the burn, and have some type of extinguisher close by.

For more information, residents are asked to contact their local Kentucky Division of Forestry Office.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
