Kentucky Office of Unemployment Will Be Suspending Bank Account Changes

The Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance announce today that it has decided to stop all claimants from making changes to bank account information on file with the agency, to protect unemployment claimants from fraud.

The decision was made after OUI was made aware of claimants reporting unauthorized changes to their bank accounts in recent days. OUI is verifying these reports and will notify anyone who have been affected as appropriate. Due to confidentiality laws, OUI will not be commenting on details of how any individual claimant may be affected.

The agency believes these instances are isolated, rather systemic, instances of fraud, and is the next wave of fraudulent activity hitting UI systems throughout the country. There has not been any security breaches or IT nfrastructure related to these reports.

The bitterly cold start to our Wednesday will inevitably lead to a cooler-than-average afternoon across the Tri-State. We're currently expecting an afternoon high of 26° in Evansville on Wednesday afternoon (that’s 17° below average for this time of the year). Temperatures will once again dive back down towards the teens for many of us overnight and into early Thursday. As for right now Thursday morning looks as though will be slightly warmer, but only just - believes model data indicates that we will see a morning low temperature of 14° under partly cloudy skies in Evansville tomorrow morning.
