Evansville's Lilly King Arrives in Tokyo Ahead of the Summer Olympics

King and her swimming teammates plan to train for the next few days ahead of the Olympic Games opening ceremonies.

The United States Olympic Team has made it safely to Tokyo, Japan.

Evansville native Lilly King shared a selfie with her Team USA teammates earlier on Thursday.

The team plans to train for the next few days ahead of the opening ceremonies.

King qualified for this year's Olympic Games Tokyo by winning the 100m breaststroke at the Olympic Trials in Omaha. According to, King hasn't lost a race in the 100m breaststroke since 2015.

The Olympic Games pool competition will take place from July 24 through Aug. 1 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, followed by the Aug. 4 and Aug. 5 open water events at the Odaiba Marine Park.

A line of sustained to heavy rainfall is expected to push northeastward across the Tri-State between the hours 7AM and 11AM Thursday morning; be sure to pack an umbrella early tomorrow, as that timeline will fall during your morning commute Thursday. After the initial line of rain exits east of the region, we'll continue to see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Thursday afternoon and evening. Unfortunately, the same can be said for our Friday - lower pressure slowly spinning eastward will stall the rainfall and prolong our precip chances as we head into Friday afternoon and evening. It looks as though those chances of rainfall throughout our Friday will be sporadic at best and shouldn't lead to any significant disruption to those Friday night football games.
