As of June 11 most Kentucky COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
Owner of Rookies Restaurant and Bar in Henderson, Rodney Thomas, is excited about it.
"I mean I'm ecstatic, I mean its a long time coming so, I believe everybody's going to be dancing a little jig tonight, especially servers and bartenders," said Thomas.
When restrictions were first put into place Thomas didn't imagine it would be more than a year long journey back to normal.
"We thought it might last one month and here we are a year and a half later," said Thomas.
Although the restrictions put into place were to help keep customers safe while out dinning, Thomas said they often took a toll on restaurants.
"The restrictions on restaurants just about killed us they actually did kill some," said Thomas.
Most restaurants struggled to keep their doors open, others were forced to close.
But with help from the community some were able to make it through.
"One thing about a small town like Henderson, people will support you and if they think your struggling they'll support you twice." said Thomas.
Now that most Kentucky restrictions are lifted and more people are getting vaccinated, Thomas said he hasn't seen much of a difference in business but plans to continue to provide a safe environment for customers.
