32-year-old Joshua Overstreet of Madisonville, Kentucky, has been arrested and charged with 1 count of Rape, 1st Degree – Victim < 12 Years Of Age after a criminal complaint was made over the weekend, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says the initial criminal complaint was made on Sunday, June 20, and that it accused Overstreet of having inappropriate contact with a juvenile.

During an investigation into the complaint, the sheriff's office says it was determined that Overstreet's contact with the juvenile involved the juvenile being raped.

Upon further investigation, HCSO says it was determined that evidence and statements were consistent with showing that the juvenile had been raped.

Overstreet was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on a $20,000 bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

The sheriff's office says the charge filed against Overstreet is a Class A Felony, which can carry a punishment of 20 to 50 years in prison or life imprisonment.

According to HCSO, the investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
