The Community Improvement Foundation (CIF) and the Mahr Park Charitable Trust have made donations toward the Mahr Park Arboretum nature playground project in Madisonville, Kentucky.

The original gift to the Community Improvement Foundation came from the F.O. and Ernestine Baker family - the founders of the Baker & Hickman dry goods store.

The Community Improvement foundation came under the Western Kentucky Foundation, who acted as the managing organization for CIF funds.

The CIF funds were transferred to the Mahr Park Charitable Trust in the amount of $65,000. The Trust added $35,000 to make a total gift of $100,000 to support the nature playground project.

The CIF and the Mahr Park Charitable Trust presented the City of Madisonville with a check for $100,000 on Tuesday, Aug 4.
