Madisonville Woman Says Voices in Her Head Told Her to Shoot Her Husband

A Madisonville woman was arrested on Sunday when police say she shot her husband Sunday afternoon after voices in her head told her to do so.

A Hopkins County woman was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon after shooting her husband, according to the Madisonville Police Department.

Police were called to a home on S. Harrig Street in Madisonville, Kentucky on Sunday around 3:30 p.m. after someone reported that a husband had been shot by his wife there.

Around 3:30 p.m., Ravan Hamlett and her husband Benigno Feliciano got into a discussion with one another when Hamlett pulled a gun out on her husband

“They were talking, and at that time, Ms. Hamlett advised that she had heard a voice in her head that told her that she needed to shoot him," said Jason McKnight of the Madisonville Police Department.

A disturbing detail made public on Monday by the Madisonville Police Department.. Once shots were fired, the police were called by other family members inside of the home, and Feliciano was rushed to the hospital where he was later announced dead.

There had been prior arrests made at the home for shots fired. Hamlett is currently residing in the Hopkins County Jail and is charged  with assault 1st Degree-Domestic Violence. These charges may be upgraded at a later time.

Hamlett appeared in court Monday morning for an arraignment. Her bond was set at $50,000, and she’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday at 9:00 a.m.
