An arrest has been made in connection to the shooting of a woman in Evansville, Indiana.
Police say 31-year-old Christopher Britton of Evansville was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder on Monday in connection to the shooting of 29-year-old Katie Clark, also of Evansville.
Britton's arrest came after he was developed as a suspect in the case and interviewed by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office.
Originally, the sheriff's office said that the woman, who was later identified as Clark, had been found lying on the side of Diamond Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds around 4:00 a.m. on Monday morning.
She was found by an Evansville Police Department Sergeant who's credited with saving her life.
"Given the fact of her injuries, the fact that she was alive when he found her, certainly him finding her as quickly as he did, is what has kept her alive," said VCSO Major Jason Ashworth. "So we're very fortunate for that - she's very fortunate."
After being found on Monday, Clark was taken to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.
Britton remains in the Vanderburgh County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
