Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder of Owensboro Woman

A Utica man was sentenced for a 2018 murder on Thursday.

A Utica, Kentucky man received his sentencing on Thursday in the 2018 murder of a woman from Owensboro.

29-year-old Matthew Adams of Utica was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Thursday in connection to the murder of Erica Owen.

Adams was also sentenced to 20 years for the charge of Burglary, 10 years for Theft, and 10 years for Tampering With Evidence.

Owen was found dead at a home on Placid Place back on July 3 of 2018. She worked as a nurse at Owensboro Health.

When Adams was found a short time later on Barron Drive, officers said he was attempting to kill himself.

He pleaded guilty to the charges back in October.

Wow!!!! It's cold!!!! After a trace of snow in Evansville and some highe amounts to the south, we're waking up to temperatures in the mid to upper teens across the Tri-State. Thankfully, road crews did a fantastic job treating the roads to keep conditions from getting slick. However, the northerly winds gusting as high as 15 to 20 mph has dropped wind chill values into the single digits and even below zero in our western communities. There won't be much of an improvement in temperatures this afternoon. With the strong northerly wind flow and dry skies our highs will only reach the mid to upper 20s. Winds will stay quite breezy keeping the wind chill factor in place through the day.
