Police: Man Accidentally Shoots Brother in Evansville

Evansville Police say a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday where an older brother shot his younger brother was determined to be accidental in nature.

On Tuesday around 6:30 p.m., the Evansville Police Department responded to a shots-fired call in the 2800 block of S. Ruston Avenue where a caller said one of her sons had shot her other son.

The caller told police her adult son had shot her juvenile son, but that it was an accident.

When officers arrived, they found the juvenile had been shot in the back in between his shoulder blades. He was alert and able to talk to police and was quickly transported to an area hospital where he's expected to survive his injuries.

Police say the older brother was taken to the police department where he was interviewed, and the shooting was determined to be accidental.

According to police, no charges have been made in the shooting incident at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
