Police say a Kentucky man was caring for three small children at the Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville when he exposed his genitalia to an employee.
Evansville police were called out to Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden Monday for a public nudity investigation. The zoo director called 911 because a male guest had exposed himself to a female employee.
Police say the suspect, Gary Moore, walked past the female zoo worker while exposing his erect genitalia from out of the slit of his pajama pants. The victim said she did not say anything to Moore, but continued to walk past him.
Moore was with three young kids at the zoo during this alleged incident. According to police, their ages were approximately 8 months, three, and four years old.
Moore was reportedly wearing a baby carrier for the 8-month-old child when he was later approached by an EPD detective investigating the case.
The first EPD officer to arrive at the zoo and confront Moore asked him if she knew why she was there. He reportedly told the officer "it fell out on its own."
Moore would later tell a responding detective that he was walking his child in the baby carrier and that the child was, "kicking his feet in a manner that caused Gary's penis to protrude out of his pants." He then told officers "it may have appeared to be hard but it wasn't."
The suspect told police he was wearing pajama pants with nothing underneath because was hot outside.
The report did not state if Moore is the father of the three children in his care, or what happened to the children when he was arrested.
Moore was booked into the Vanderburgh County jail on a felony public nudity charge.
According to the affidavit, Moore has numerous arrests for sex-related crimes. In Indiana, Moore has been convicted of three other public nudity charges.
The judge set Moore's bond at $15,000 or $1,500 cash Tuesday. He is due back in court later this week.
