An Amendment Proposal to the Evansville budget by City Council President Alex Burton sparked controversy Monday night.
The proposal aims to take $250,000 from the General Fund originally earmarked for police - instead would go toward affordable housing in the city.

Those missing fund from the EPD budget would then be made up with money from the public safety local income tax, that is not allocated, and use it to fill the gap in the EPD budget.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke joined 44News This Morning to explain the plan, and to offer an update on the ongoing Deaconess Aquatics Center project near Garvin Park.
