The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is set to start next Monday, even as more booths continue to drop out.

Just one month ago, 6 organizations said they were not particpating in this years festival. Now, that number is over 20.

Groups are opting out for various reasons including concerns about Covid or a lack of staff members for the festival.

44News spoke to It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue Shelter, an animal shelter that has been on the fence about participating in this year's events.

"We are very short on volunteers this year," said Office Manager Jessa McCauley. "We are putting out a plea to get some more volunteers to help us."

Currently, It Takes a Village does plan to participate in the Fall Festival.

The West Side Nut Club has not set a date for groups to confirm whether or not they will be apart of the festival.

Wow!!!! It's cold!!!! After a trace of snow in Evansville and some highe amounts to the south, we're waking up to temperatures in the mid to upper teens across the Tri-State. Thankfully, road crews did a fantastic job treating the roads to keep conditions from getting slick. However, the northerly winds gusting as high as 15 to 20 mph has dropped wind chill values into the single digits and even below zero in our western communities. There won't be much of an improvement in temperatures this afternoon. With the strong northerly wind flow and dry skies our highs will only reach the mid to upper 20s. Winds will stay quite breezy keeping the wind chill factor in place through the day.
