That dashboard reveals more than two dozen EVSC schools had confirmed cases of COVID-19 within the school population.
Late Wednesday the Indiana Department of Health launched a school dashboard page, calculating the number of students, teachers, and staff members positive for COVID-19
"The majority of our schools actually do not have any cases in some instances we have had a very short or small number of cases," says EVSC Spokesperson, Jason Woebkenberg.
There are 40 schools within EVSC. Nearly 30 EVSC schools reported positive cases to the state of Indiana.
"If you have less than five cases in a school it will be suppressed and actually say less than five without giving a specific number, which we definitely appreciate" adds Woebkenberg.
Out of all 40 schools, only 11 EVSC schools reported zero cases to the state dashboard.
"At this point it is not a legal requirement the Department of Health has certainly asked all school systems and all school districts in the state to participate, the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has said all along that we would participate in the dashboard," says the spokesperson.
Reitz High School is reporting seven new student cases, 21 total so far this school year, and fewer than 10 cases among faculty or staff.
"If we have a positive case we have COVID-19 teams that are trained in every one of our 40 schools and they conduct a very thorough contact tracing process," says Woebkenberg.
Harrison, Central, Bosse, and North High Schools are all reporting 5 cases or less within their buildings.
It's unclear the number of students, faculty, or staff currently under quarantine restrictions district-wide.
