Mt. Carmel Police continue to investigate a possible attempted child abduction earlier in the week.

According to the police Facebook page, the incident took place near the area of 2nd and Mulberry Street around 5:30pm Monday afternoon.

A caller reported to police that a black SUV pulled into a driveway, stopped a child playing in the area, and told her to "come see Santa."

The child ran from the SUV and fled inside the home safely.  According to the child, the person looked like an older white male with a white beard.  The vehicle was last seen westbound on 2nd Street headed towards Market Street.  Anyone with information is asked to call Mt. Carmel Police.
