According to Mt. Vernon High School, school administrators were notified on Wednesday that one of the high school's teachers had tested positive for COVID-19.

MVHS says the teacher who tested positive for the virus has been out of school all of this week due to being a close contact to another COVID-19 positive individual, so no students were directly impacted.

According to a statement from MVHS, school officials believe the teacher who tested positive for COVID-19 contracted the virus outside of the school building, but the classroom will still be sterilized appropriately.

One week ago on Sept. 2, the school reported a positive case of COVID-19 within a student.

The school says the Posey County Health Department is aware of the positive case.
