A murder trial for an Evansville man was scheduled to begin Monday morning in Vanderburgh Superior Court but it's been reset. The court could not confirm a reason as to why the trial is being pushed back.

Demarco Thomas is charged with murdering Patrick Bryant in April 2019. Bryant was taken to an area hospital after being found unresponsive in his apartment. About a month later he died from his injuries.

According to court records Thomas admitted to attacking Bryant after the victim spoke to Thomas using a racial slur.

Thomas is being held without bond in the Vanderburgh County Jail as he awaits trial.

While it may be breezy today, the sunshine isn't going to let us down. Most of the cloud cover will exit this morning. Dry and clear skies will be on tap this afternoon. Despite the strong northeasterly flow, highs shouldn't have any problems reaching the mid to upper 60s. We'll reach 66° in the River City.
