In lieu of tradition, members of the United States Congress presented President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris with gifts on inauguration day following the ceremony.

Both were given engraved 32-pound crystal vases and photos from the ceremony.

Miniority leader and Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell teamed up with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi during post-inaugural events.

The congressional leaders handed over a pair of American flags to the new president and vice president and their spouses.

McConnell then took time to honor the historic moments that had just taken place outside the capitol building.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave remarks mirroring those of Senator McConnell to welcome a new administration to the White House.

Following the exchange, Biden and Harris attended a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
