Effective Monday, Oct. 12, masks will be required at all times and during all activities in the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center at the University of Southern Indiana.

The USI Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center made the announcement on Twitter on Friday, and said that the policy would be revisited "as the situation changes."

The announcement from the branch within USI, which lies on Evansville's west side, comes alongside Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke's announcement of increased restrictions on gathering and event sizes, due to the surging number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths within Vanderburgh County.

According to the USI Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center, the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
