Evansville's iconic "Nick Nackery" on the corner of Virginia Street and Heidlebach Avenue is up for sale.

The costume shop was opened by the Blesch family at its current location nearly 36 years ago on June 1, 1985. Now, current owner Suzy Blesch says it's time to start a new chapter.

Over the next three and a half decades, the Blesch family would grow Nick Nackery from an 800 square foot knick knack shop to one of the largest year-round costume stores in the country.

An announcement made by the business on Monday says they're looking for a new owner who will not only continue Nick Nackery's legacy but expand the business into the future.

Blesch says she's looking forward to retirement, traveling, and starting her new position as full-time grandma to her four grandchildren. She says that during the search for a new owner, the Nick Nackery will stay open.

The business is listed for $190,000. For more information on the Nick Nackery or its listing, you can view the full announcement on

It's a cool, but beautiful start to our Thursday! Conditions will hold together for an absolutely gorgeous afternoon. Highs will still be below normal, but we'll take some high 60s under mostly sunny skies. The 70s could make a come back as soon as tomorrow!
