The Evansville Regional Airport (EVV) unveiled a new program on Tuesday, along with the first nine local companies to join the program.

Officials with the airport unveiled the new "FlyEVV First" program, which they say is designed to maximize the impact that flying local has on the region.

According to the announcement made by the airport, the first nine companies to join the FlyEVV First program are AstraZeneca, Atlas, Berry Global, CenterPoint Energy, Energy Systems Group (ESG), Gibbs, Koch Enterprises, Old National, and Toyota.

“FlyEVV First provides the opportunity for regional business leaders to continually help move our region forward by committing their companies to utilize Evansville Regional Airport,” said Nate Hahn, Executive Director at Evansville Regional Airport. “Flying EVV First benefits the entire region by improving our region’s global competitiveness, reducing overall business travel costs and growing our region’s economy.”

Hahn says that by joining the program, companies are demonstrating demand, which in turn, encourages airlines to lower fairs and add more flights and destinations to the EVV route map.

“There is a direct correlation between increased usage at EVV and the potential for new routes,” said Hahn. “Airlines monitor passenger volume as they determine air service expansion plans, so the best way to continually grow our airport, is to choose EVV when traveling.”

It was another cool, though overall pleasant day across the Tri-State - after only seeing temperatures dive as low as 22° early this morning, peak temperatures ended up climbing a few degrees higher than Thursday's; that being said, Evansville’s high temperature of 27° Was still 15° below average for this time of the year. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will gradually fall for 23° around dinner time back down to 19° by10 PM. A weak northerly wind flow most of the night paired with our crystal clear skies will cause temperatures to of fall back down into the mid to low teens once again - Evansville's anticipated low temperature of 12° will mark or coolest since the morning of January 7th.
