The Metropolitan School District of North Posey County (MSD of North Posey) has announced several changes to its COVID-19 guidelines on quarantines and event restrictions.
According to a statement issued by MSD of North Posey on Wednesday, students in the district deemed as close contacts of a positive COVID-19 case will now be required to quarantine for 10 days - a change from the district's previous 14-day quarantine rule.
MSD of North Posey students who test positive for COVID-19 will still follow the 10-day quarantine rule.

Additionally, district officials are updating guidance on extra-curricular events at North Posey High School, North Posey High School, North Elementary School, and South Terrace Elementary.
With Posey County's recent entry into the Orange advisory level on the state health department's COVID-19 County Metrics Map, MSD of North Posey officials say new protocols will be followed in accordance with Gov. Holcomb's latest Executive Order, which allows a number of individuals equal to 25% of a facility's capacity to attend events.
Students participating in extra-curricular activities at North Posey High School will be permitted four tickets per event at the high school.
The elementary schools and junior high school will remain at two tickets per student due to the smaller sizes of those facilities.
MSD of North Posey officials say they'll update the public on any changes that may take place if the county's status on the COVID-19 County Metrics Map shifts again.
