An arrest has been made in connection to an early morning shooting that happened outside Sportsman’s Grille & Billiards on West Franklin Street in Evansville, Indiana on Friday.

Police say 33-year-old Nicholas K. McPherson was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder in connection to the shooting after he was spotted by detectives during a traffic stop on Friday afternoon.

McPherson's arrest came after police responded to a shooting outside Sportsman's around 3:15 a.m. on Friday morning, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head.

Officers were told that the shooter was kicked out of the bar before the shooting happened. They say after the shooter was kicked out, he was arguing with the victim outside when he shot him in the face.

As of EPD's last update, the victim in the shooting is in critical condition at the hospital.

They say McPherson was identified as the suspect in the case because he was still wearing the same clothing from earlier Friday morning when the shooting occurred.

McPherson remains in the Vanderburgh County Jail on no bond.

Today's high temperature of 87° was our warmest in a week and a half - we last climbed that high on the afternoon of September 18th when we tipped the scales at 88°. The remainder of the evening will remain quite mild under clear skies; expect temperatures to first fall to 83° by dinnertime before dropping to 73° by 10PM. The clear skies and weak southerly wind flow will help keep temperatures relatively stable during the overnight and predawn hours - we'll wake up to a morning low of just 62° early Wednesday morning.
