The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) says a contractor will install a permanent lane closure on U.S. 60.

The lane closure will begin on Monday, Nov. 16, and remain in place 24/7 through Friday, Nov. 20. Once the work has been completed, the closure will be taken down.

The lane closure will be for the westbound direction across the bridge, which will also require the closure of KY 1078 and KY 2243.

According to KYTC, a temporary signal will be installed on the eastbound lane of the bridge and will address both eastbound and westbound traffic while this work is performed.

The lane restriction is needed for the contractor to install shoring and barrier wall in preparation for the construction of the bridge substructure on the west side of the Green River.

Today’s high temperatures in the mid to low 90s marked our hottest recorded in the Tri-State in at least 3 weeks. Worse yet, dew point values in the upper 60s made it feel oppressively hot earlier today - most of us reached the triple digits at times today. Believe it or not, temperatures are expected to get even hotter these next few days! After dipping back into the uppers 60s and low 70s during the predawn hours Tuesday, the mercury will skyrocket back into the mid to low 90s!
