EPD Investigating Incident involving One-Year-Old Child with Severe Burns

Around 3pm Monday, Evansville Police were called to the 900 block of East Riverside Drive at the intersection of Kentucky Avenue

The caller said she came to Evansville to pick up the one-year-old from the father at a local gas station.  When seeing the child, she found that the child was lethargic and suffering from severe burns.

According to initial report, the father told the caller that his girlfriend had burned the child. Shortly after, the father fled the scene in a silver SUV.

EPD continues to investigate this incident.

Today's high temperature of 87° was our warmest in a week and a half - we last climbed that high on the afternoon of September 18th when we tipped the scales at 88°. The remainder of the evening will remain quite mild under clear skies; expect temperatures to first fall to 83° by dinnertime before dropping to 73° by 10PM. The clear skies and weak southerly wind flow will help keep temperatures relatively stable during the overnight and predawn hours - we'll wake up to a morning low of just 62° early Wednesday morning.
