Owensboro Public Schools are looking to fill several positions as they head back to in-person learning.

The school district is offering several employment opportunities including jobs specifically added for additional help in the schools during the return back to the classroom.

The school service assistant positions will be on a part-time basis and provide benefits.

School officials say this is an opportunity for people who may have lost their jobs or quit to help at home during the pandemic.

"It's a good opportunity for people just looking for some part-time work to get them through the end of summer," says Jared Revlett, Owensboro Public Schools. "It's something we're excited to have, but also another layer of protection to make sure we're following those healthy at school guidelines."

The jobs could require temperature checking, cleaning high-touch areas, or monitoring lunchrooms to ensure students are social distancing.

Officials say there will be one to two new positions per school.

It was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon throughout the Tri-State, but despite our seemingly endless supply of sunshine today, temperatures remained more than 10° cooler than the norm for this time of the year. Fortunately, today's peak temperature of 65° represents our coolest anticipated afternoon high temperature through the remainder of our extended forecast. While it is indeed encouraging that temperatures will gradually rise through the rest of the work week into the weekend ahead, we'll still have to deal with temperatures back down into the upper 30s and low 40s early Thursday morning.
