The director of the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport has been arrested after deputies say he lied to them, telling them he was a cop and even flashing a badge.

Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport Director Rob Barnett was arrested on a warrant for impersonating a peace officer nearly a week after deputies arrived at his home to follow up on a disturbance call.

While deputies were investigating the call on Jan. 22, Barnett allegedly told them he worked in law enforcement before showing them a badge.

No action on his employment as airport director has been taken at this time.

We'll continue to follow this developing story.

It was another brutally hot afternoon throughout the Tri-State; afternoon highs peaked in the mid to low 90s for our third straight day with heat indices approaching and even surpassing 100° at times earlier on. As for the remainder of the evening, one can expect much of the same - temperatures will stick around the upper 80s through at least dinnertime before dipping to 80° or so by 10PM. Winds shifting southward overnight will only allow temperatures to fall as low as the mid to low 70s throughout the Ohio Valley; we'll kick off what may end up being our hottest day in years with a morning low temperature of 73° in Evansville.
