One Tri-State community is coming together to make this Thanksgiving special despite the ongoing pandemic.

Members of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Owensboro gathered Sunday preparing for their 7th annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive.

The church has been collecting canned food items for weeks, including large turkey's for each family.

Those who came out say lending a helping hand in our community is more important now than ever.

"Mount Calvary is really about the community," says Steph Boling, church member. "We really make sure that anyone that stands at a need that we're there to help. There to be a light to someone in a time of need."

The church will start delivery for those in need starting Monday with the hope of feeding more than 50 families across the Tri-State.
