Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is pushing back some surgery dates due to the high number of COVID-19 patients currently being treated at its hospitals.
The healthcare system said Thursday that all elective surgeries requiring an overnight stay between Jan. 12 through Jan. 23 would be postponed.
According to Owensboro Health, the decision was made due to the rise in COVID-19 patients and the healthcare system's ability to maintain normal scheduling patterns.
The last hospitalization update from Owensboro Health showed 58 total COVID-positive patients currently being cared for throughout its three facilities.
Owensboro Health says that it will continue to assess the situation and return to normal scheduling whenever possible.
