A Red Devil is set to become a Scarlet Knight.

On Friday, Owensboro High School Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt has announced that he will enroll at Rutgers University in 2022.

In a video on his Twitter account, Wimsatt talks about his decision.

"First off, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game I love," Wimsatt said in the video.

"This has been an unbelievable journey.  I've never imagined I would be in the position I am in today. But, I am very blessed and grateful for my opportunities."

Wimsatt was recruited by multiple schools, including Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Vanderbilt, and many others.

"I would like to thank all the coaches who took their time to recruit me. I met a lot of great people along the way."

According to 247Sports, Wimsatt is labeled as a dual quarterback and ranked 3rd nationally in that category. He was #1 as the top football recruit in Kentucky for the class of 2022.

He will quarterback his senior year for the Red Devils, something he is looking forward to.

"Huge thanks to my coaches and trainers who helped me better my craft.  Also, want to thank my friends and family and brothers through this process."

It's a cool, but beautiful start to our Thursday! Conditions will hold together for an absolutely gorgeous afternoon. Highs will still be below normal, but we'll take some high 60s under mostly sunny skies. The 70s could make a come back as soon as tomorrow!
