On Saturday night, a teenager was shot and killed on the west side of Owensboro.
The Owensboro Police Department responded to a shots fired call on West Fifth Street on Saturday night, and when they arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy dead at the scene.
Teenager Corban Henry was found dead on the road when police arrived to the 1500 block of West Fifth Street.
Witnesses to the crime say that Corban and a friend were riding down the street on a moped when the suspect began firing at them.
The driver of the moped was left unharmed, but Corban suffered a single, fatal gunshot wound.
And Corban's girlfriend, 15 year old Peyton Powell, spoke about how tragic the loss is.
"It's like a pain I've never felt before," said Powell. "Corban deserves justice, and whoever did this to him deserves to be held accountable."
Neighbors on the scene rushed out to the streets as soon as the shots were heard, and when they arrived, they saw the victim flee on foot.
And that suspect is still at large.
Detectives are still investigating and they ask that anyone with additional information on the crime contact OPD or if they’d like to remain anonymous, they can do so by leaving a tip with crime stoppers.
