Multiple individuals involved in an Owensboro drug trafficking organization are behind bars facing multiple felony charges after what officials are now calling the most significant narcotics seizure in Owensboro to date.
The U.S. District Attorney, Owensboro Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Daviess County Sheriff's Office, and other officials gathered at the Owensboro Convention Center on Tuesday to detail the large-scale drug bust.
Officials said Around 151 Lbs of Meth, 3.5 Lbs of counterfeit pills with suspected deadly Fentanyl, multitudes of weapons, and other drugs were all seized as a part of the operation.
The methamphetamine seized had a street value of $7 million, and could have provided enough dosage units to fill a capacity crowd at a professional football stadium four-times over.
The bust came following a detailed investigation by police in Owensboro, but the department says the investigation doesn't stop here and is ongoing.
At least five Owensboro residents were charged in connection to the bust.
