Owensboro Man Charged with Arson after Early Morning House Fire

An Owensboro man is now lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on a $35,000 bond after police say he intentionally set fire to a residence in the 700 block of Gracian Street on Monday.

A 36-year-old Owensboro man was arrested for allegedly catching a home on fire early Monday morning.

Officers with the Owensboro Police Department responded to a residence in the 700 block of Gracian St on Monday around 2:00 a.m. to a structure fire.

Police say it was determined that the residence on Gracian St was intentionally set on fire by 36-year-old Christopher Cecil of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Cecil was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Arson by OPD.

No injuries were reported as a result of the house fire, as police say the residence was vacant.

Cecil remains in the Daviess County Jail on a $35,000 bond where he awaits his first court appearance, which is scheduled for Aug 5.
