15-Year-Old Killed in Saturday Owensboro Shooting

Owensboro Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred around 10:30 p.m. that left a 15-year-old-boy dead.

Owensboro Police confirmed that a child is dead after a shooting off of West 5th Street. Police say the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The officers were called to the scene around 10:30 Pm on Saturday night, and when they arrived they found a 15-year-old-boy dead on the road.

The Owensboro Police Department later identified the victim of the fatal Saturday shooting as 15-year-old Corbin Henry of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Witnesses to the crime say the Henry was riding down West 5th St. on a moped with another friend when the suspect began to shoot at the two.

Henry was riding as a passenger on the moped and was the only one to be shot.

A neighbor that wanted to remain anonymous says this happened right outside his door.

"I heard a couple gunshots and came to the door, and I see the guy out there laying in the street, and I asked the guy was he okay, and he said he had been shot. My son called the ambulance, and to see somebody's son laying out there on the street, cause that could be mine that could be anyone else's soon out there, it's sad."

Neighbors say the victim was pronounced dead on the scene, and the driver of the moped was taken to the hospital.

Witnesses to the crime say that the suspect fled the scene on foot after the shots were fired

And Detectives are still searching for a suspect and anyone with any information is asked to call OPD or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
