The Owensboro Public Schools district in Owensboro, Kentucky, says it's received funding to outfit all of its buses with WiFi.

According to OPS, the district was awarded the funds through eRate. The funds will be used to equip all school buses in the district with WiFi and provide the service for the next 10 months.

"We realized how important this service was when school was being held virtually and many of our students didn't have access to WiFi," OPS said. "At the time, the district only had three vehicles equipped with WiFi that we used as hotspots at limited locations."

OPS says it hopes the new WiFi capabilities will provide more opportunities for its students to access the internet throughout the day.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
