According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), a "costumed pig" will lead PETA supporters in a socially distanced protest outside the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile in Owensboro on Saturday.
"As the Wienermobile pulls up to Owensboro, PETA encourages everyone to put the brakes on cruelty by choosing a delicious veggie dog," said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.
According to PETA, "the protest comes as the meat industry allows slaughterhouse workers to face the nearly unchecked spread of COVID-19, which originated in a meat market."
PETA says the protest is also being held to speak out against cruelty to pigs in the making of hotdogs.
The protest will be held at the Wienermobile's Owensboro appearance at 101 W. Third St in Owensboro, Kentucky on Saturday, Aug 1.
