Parke County Indiana Earthquake Felt in the Tri-State Thursday

A small earthquake with an epicenter near Bloomingdale, Indiana was felt as far south as Virginia, and as far north as southern Michigan Thursday.

A small earthquake near Bloomingdale, Indiana in western Parke County was felt here in the Tri-State Thursday.

The rumbles reached as far north as Chicago and parts of southern Michigan, and as far south as Virginia.

According to the Associated Press, the U.S. Geological Survey says the 3.8 magnitude quake started around 3:00 PM Central Time.

Those that monitor quakes say the Hoosier State usually sees 4 or 5 magnitude quakes.

The state has not felt any that strong since 2008.

They say this quake originated about 5 miles underground.

Winds will gust as high 35 MPH through the afternoon. The stronger southerly winds will assist in milder afternoon highs. Temperatures will max in the upper-50s and low-60s with partly cloudy skies. Rain will be arriving by 3AM Thanksgiving morning.
