In Madisonville, sanitation rates could be increasing to offset additional expenses the department racked up in recent years.

However, that rate increase has not been finalized.

According to the first proposal presented Monday, residential customers would still get one trash can per home but would be charged a Solid Waste Collection Fee of $23.75.

That's up from the current $20.00 per month.

Within the proposal, Commercial Rates would increase as well.

That's based on the number and size of the containers being used along with the number of pick-ups per month.

It's going to be a beautiful afternoon with highs topping out in the low to mid 60s. You better enjoy today because rain chances are moving in tonight. Unfortunately, they'll be sticking around for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will have pop up shower chances with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
