The Evansville Fire Department says several people were displaced after a Monday morning fire on Weinbach Avenue.

According to EFD, firefighters were dispatched to an apartment complex at 1200 S. Weinbach Ave. around 8:30 a.m. on Monday after a fire was reported by someone living there who had just returned home.

When firefighters got there, they found a bedroom fire in a first-floor two-bedroom apartment. According to EFD, the fire caused significant heat and smoke damage to the apartment. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.

EFD says two adults and five kids lived in the apartment where the fire occurred. They, along with three people living in the apartment above theirs, were displaced as a result of the blaze.

EFD says a puppy was also in the apartment where the fire started, and that the puppy was saved by first responders.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
