Short Pursuit Ends With Crash in Evansville

A Thursday afternoon pursuit in Evansville involving sheriff's deputies ended with a crash near the intersection of Highway 41 and St. George Road.

A Thursday afternoon pursuit involving Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputies ended with a crash near the intersection of Highway 41 and St. George Road in Evansville.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says it all started on Thursday around 1:00 p.m. when deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant at an area home.

According to the sheriff's office, Darrell Cohoon, 26, who deputies were trying to arrest got into his car and drove off instead of giving himself up.

After a short pursuit, the sheriff's office tells us Cohoon crashed his car near St. George Road and Highway 41 after clipping another vehicle.

At that point, he tried to take off running but was taken into custody by deputies, according to the sheriff's office.

He was treated for minor injuries.

He was then booked on 6 new charges including dealing meth.

It was another cool, though overall pleasant day across the Tri-State - after only seeing temperatures dive as low as 22° early this morning, peak temperatures ended up climbing a few degrees higher than Thursday's; that being said, Evansville’s high temperature of 27° Was still 15° below average for this time of the year. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will gradually fall for 23° around dinner time back down to 19° by10 PM. A weak northerly wind flow most of the night paired with our crystal clear skies will cause temperatures to of fall back down into the mid to low teens once again - Evansville's anticipated low temperature of 12° will mark or coolest since the morning of January 7th.
