Rainfall Exits, Sunshine Returns

Rainfall exits the Tri-State, setting the stage for a pleasant weekend ahead.

It's about time! The steady rainfall that has plagued the region over these last 36 hours has finally exited east of the Tri-State, though the damage has certainly already been done - some portions of the Ohio Valley have received nearly 3" of precipitation in total. Thankfully, drier weather has already began to filter back in across the region and will linger for at least the next couple of days. If you've felt cooped up because of all the rain, make sure to get out and about this evening - the skies above the Tri-State will gradually clear and the mercury is only expected to dip into the low 60s by 10PM before diving to 52° overnight.

Friday morning looks cooler, but clearer overall and it will set the stage for what is expected to be an absolutely gorgeous afternoon throughout the Tri-State. Crystal clear skies early on will give way to a few fair-weather clouds by tomorrow afternoon; temperatures will also be slightly warmer overall - expect an afternoon high near 74° tomorrow afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Friday and Saturday are both expected to be quite breezy at times; our northerly winds peaking near 15 mph Friday will make for a cooler, but comfortable day. Saturday on the other hand looks a bit warmer. Southerly winds gusting near 25 mph will help boost temperatures area-wide into the upper 70s and even low 80s for a few of us. Our current forecast in Evansville calls for a high of 77° under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

The core of high pressure keeping the skies above the region clear over the next 48 hours will push to our east by Saturday and Sunday; this will maintain those breezy southerly winds mentioned above. Moisture riding those winds northward up the Mississippi Valley is not only expected to supply the region with added cloud cover come Sunday, but also rain chances as well. Scattered rain showers are currently poised to reach the Tri-State around dinner time on Sunday evening. While the majority of the day looks as though it will be dry, it's unfortunate we'll have to wrap what will be a nearly perfect weekend ahead on a bit of a damp note.

Despite the passage of this morning's cold front, the Tri State will experience another delightful day. Winds will pick up from the west and could gust as high as 25-30 MPH. Clouds roll back in through the evening as temperature remain in the upper-50s.
