Rainfall Returns to Ruin Our Weekend

Rainfall pushes those weekend plans indoors.

It should be a perfect Friday evening for those high school football games throughout the Ohio Valley; temperatures will gradually dip from 76° around kickoff to just 70° by the end of those games. The combination of our southerly winds paired with some added cloud cover overnight and our next round of isolated rainfall inching ever closer will help keep temperatures mild early Saturday morning. In fact, mild might be a bit of an understatement - tomorrow morning's anticipated low of 66° will mark our warmest start to a day since August 20th and will remain 13° above our average low for the first night of October. The warmer weather won't however, isn't expected to be our main weather story as we head into the weekend - that aforementioned rain will hold that title.

The latest model data suggests that the first of our Saturday morning rain chances should reach our westernmost communities between 5AM and 6AM, but shouldn't reach Evansville until between 8AM or 9AM tomorrow morning. At first, our rain showers will likely be sparse and light, but as the day rolls on, our rain chances will gradually increase. If you have any outdoor plans Saturday afternoon, I suggest you move those plans indoors - in fact, the entire weekend ahead looks as though it will be a bit of a wash out. Scattered rainfall will linger though our Saturday and into our Sunday before exiting east late Sunday evening. By the time it's all said and done , some spots across the Tri-State may see between 1" and 2" of rain.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
