Remaining Cool... For Now

Beautiful weather is expected to linger across the Tri-State for our midweek, but warmer weather is never far from the Tri-State during the month of August.

Now that's more like it! Today's high of 79° marked our coolest since the end of June and believe it or not, tomorrow looks even nicer! The core of high pressure responsible for today's pleasant weather will keep the skies above the Tri-State clear overnight. The clear conditions paired with a weak northerly wind flow will help plunge temperature to their lowest point since the morning of June 15th; we'll bottom out at 57° in the River City early Wednesday morning.

The cool start to the day will be followed by an equally brisk afternoon (relatively speaking) - our anticipated high of 78° will be 10° below average for this time of the year! However, we wont have to wait long before our next warming trend kicks off - after falling back into the upper 50s early Thursday morning, afternoon highs will reach back into the low 80s. Our aforementioned high pressure system will continue on its current eastward trek, as that occurs northerly winds currently settled in over the region will shift southward. Before you know it, temperatures will be back into the upper 80s and low 90s.

Friday's high of 86°, albeit warmer, won't feel all that terrible as humidity levels in the lower atmosphere will remain at least bearable. The same however cannot be said for the remainder of our weekend ahead. Heat indices are expected to to reach the mid 90s on Saturday and may even approach the triple digits come Sunday. On top of all of the heat, storm chances are also expected to make their (what's the opposite of long-awaited?) return to the Tri-State as we wrap up the weekend ahead.

Tonight it will be much colder with an overnight low of around 22 degrees, with a light north wind. On Tuesday, highs will only be in the middle 30's and then we throw in a chance of flurries overnight. Best chance of flurries will be along and north of I-64.
