Incumbent Democratic Illinois Senator Richard Durbin has been declared winner in the Illinois Senate race.
Durbin currently holds 56% of votes against Republican candidate Mark Curran's 40%.
Sen. Dubin's defeat of Curran would usher in his 5th term as Illinois' senator.
Since 2005, Durbin has served as the Senate Democratic Whip, the second-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in the U.S. Senate.
He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996.
