Rounds of Heavy Rain Followed by Midweek Cooldown

What to expect Monday

Posted: Aug 29, 2021 10:09 PM

MONDAY: The combination of an inbound front along with advancement of Ida will trigger shower and storms chances throughout the afternoon and evening. Some of these storms will be capable of producing heavy downpours and a few claps of thunder. Between the hours 11 AM - 3PM will be the best opportunity for rain chances to develop. Highs will only max in the mid-80s. Expect scattered to isolated storm chances through the evening.

MONDAY NIGHT: A stray shower will be possible through the overnight with clouds remaining dominate. Expect a low of 71.

REST OF THE WEEK: A second wave of tropical moisture will move in Tuesday morning. Most of the heavier rain bands will be exclusive for communities along the Ohio and south. Light-to-moderate showers will disrupt most of your Tuesday before clearing around midnight Wednesday. Minor occurrences of flash flooding will be possible. Rainfall totals will range between 1-3". Cooler and comfortable air will arrive by midweek and beyond.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
