A new phone scam arriving in the Tri-State.  Center Point Energy, the owner of Vectren, is warning customers of Robo-calls claiming to be from the utility provider.

Vectren has reported more than 200 people have received this type of scam call since Christmas.

According to the Better Business Bureau, the caller is threatening customers to cut off their power if they don't issue a payment immediately.

One woman who received a call was told she was three months behind and needed to pay $500 dollars to keep the power on.

Oana Scheider of the Tri-State Better Business Bureau says if you receive this type of call, to double-check your balance on the company's website, before offering anyone funds or personal information over the phone.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
