Following President Joe Biden's first address to Congress Wednesday, Senator Mitch McConnell described the administration as a "bait and switch."

President Joe Biden has now been in office for 100 days.

On Wednesday night, President Biden delivered his first address to Congress, attempting to paint a picture of a country on the rise. He unveiled a proposal expanding education and family care, pushed his infrastructure bill, and defended a massive expansion of government spending.

Not everyone listening to the president's speech was in agreement.

“I think the storyline on the Biden Administration, underscored by the President’s speech tonight, could best be described as ‘bait and switch'," said Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). "The ‘bait’ was he was going to be a moderate, a unifying force and bring us all together. The ‘switch’ is that Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), for all practical purposes, won the debate in the Democratic Party over what it ought to look like."

"I’m hard-pressed to find anything moderate about the Biden Administration," Sen. McConnell said. "Which is why Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are so excited about this new administration."

Sen McConnell went on to say that President Biden "talks like a moderate but is governing to satisfy the far left.”
