There are thousands of bird species all over the world. Each with their very own unique qualities and characteristics.
For Brenda James and her brother Greg Hancock, their dad, was in a way, a self-taught "Ornithologist.”
Their dad, James Hancock, had a passion for nature since the age of 14 which led to James collecting hundreds and hundreds of books. Ranging from every topic imaginable, all stored in a concrete shed that he built in his backyard.
James ended up passing away nearly ten year ago.
But, the story of James' life, not ending there…
Per his request, his beloved collection of literature was to be passed on to others to learn about the topic he cared for so deeply about.
Earlier in the week, Audubon State Park Museum officials took James' books to store in their library for students, visitors, and researchers.
Brenda and Greg say the process will hopefully bring them closure.
Although it's the end of the siblings' journey with their father’s books, it's just the turning of a page, to a new chapter where James and his passions can now live on for years to come.
